According to the information given by Siem Reap Municipal authorities, a baseline study carried out in 2006 by DED identified approximately 32,500 people or 19% of city’s population live in slums.
My thesis project’s aim is to propose a way of change of informal city-making procedures into formal processes with considered strategies and sustainable solutions.
I propose a new sustainable low-cost house made from bamboo, which help poor people able to afford and live comfortably. And my other building is a multipurpose community center that supporting the local community and provide the opportunities for social interaction and therefore I propose an architectural style that will inform and generate the social interaction The design focuses around the idea of the social configuration of space and how this allows the buildings users to experience a range of activities formed to facilitate social engagement.
